I Was Flat Wrong About SoundBite: Bombs Q1/2008 Earnings, Lowers Guidance

By Chris Fernandez | May 8th, 2008 | (6) comments »

SoundBite LogoIt looks like I’ll be eating my first dose of humble pie since I started PeakStocks.com about 7 months ago. In a business where if you get slightly over 50% of your picks right, you attain rock star status, it looks like we’ll be adding SoundBite to the “losing” side of the scorecard, at least for now.

SoundBite Communications (Nasdaq: SDBT), a leading provider of on-demand customer contact solutions, reported its fiscal 1st quarter 2008 earnings on Wednesday May 7th after the market closed, and to say they were bad would probably not serve the word “bad” properly.

Not only did SoundBite miss their own guidance and estimates for the first quarter, but they also LOWERED guidance for Q2/2008, AND full-year 2008, only 3 months after they had raised that same guidance.

So is it time to sell SoundBite and cut our losses? Maybe…

What follows is a brief summary of SoundBite’s earnings announcement and conference call, with my solemn thoughts at the end.

Look for a full report on their latest quarter and analyst conference call highlights in a few weeks after they release their latest 10-Q filing and I have a chance to parse the data fully. Read the rest of this entry »

SoundBite Communications Q4/2007 Company Update: It’s Time To Buy

By Chris Fernandez | April 8th, 2008 | (19) comments »

SoundBite LogoA more thorough and detailed analysis of SoundBite Communication’s (Nasdaq: SDBT) last quarterly and full-year 2007 report and reevaluation of the company’s financials and fundamentals, have only reinforced my original investment thesis.

SoundBite is the dominant player in their niche (Automated Voice Messaging/Customer Contact Solutions), growing faster than their overall market and taking market share away from competitors.

In addition, their dirt cheap valuation relative to their fundamentals leaves me scratching my head as to how Wall Street can be so wrong about this company, and compels me to re-recommend SoundBite as an immediate BUY.

If you haven’t already done so, you need to add shares of SoundBite to your portfolio, here’s why: Read the rest of this entry »

SoundBite Logo SoundBite Communications (Nasdaq: SDBT) reported its fiscal 4th quarter and full year 2007 earnings on Wednesday February 27th.

New Company Spotlight and Buy Alert: SoundBite Communications

By Chris Fernandez | February 13th, 2008 | (23) comments »

SoundBite LogoYou’re phone is ringing again…should you pick it up?

“I dunno…” you say to yourself, “could be telemarketers bugging me again.”

As the phone continues to ring, you decide to finally pick up the phone and answer it.

Sure enough, you’re worst fears come to fruition: it’s an automated voice message…but something about it catches your attention right away.

This isn’t like other AVM’s you’ve gotten in the past. Right off the bat you know that something is different.

The message specifically asked for you by name, and when you heard that the phone call was from Capital One about some potential suspicious activity on your card, your ears definitely perked up.

After a few seconds, the message asks you to verify your identity with a question only you would know the answer to before proceeding with the rest of the message.

After verifying who you were, details about the suspicious transaction are presented to you.

After thinking about it for a second, you don’t at first recognize the charge, and as an option, ask to speak to a customer service representative.

In less time than it takes you to say “customer service”, someone is on the line with your full details ready to explain more about the potential fraudulent activity on your account.

You are impressed by not only the speed of the transfer to an agent, but also with the depth and responsiveness of the entire call and how seamless it was.

This time at least, you are certainly glad you picked up the phone!

So who’s behind this nifty technology? How can we invest in the growing trend of automating customer contact, bill payment, debt collection and customer service?

I’ve discovered a small company that just came public operating in this niche with nice growth prospects in an emerging and expanding field: SoundBite Communications (Nasdaq: SDBT) Read the rest of this entry »

For no good reason our stocks are getting hammered…I can’t take this anymore, I’m starting to panic…

Ok, sorry about that, just wanted to get your attention.

There’s been no panic on my side of the coin with the PeakStocks.com recommendations, but I can see from the comments and hesitation that I am reading out there, that some of you may be.

So to allay any fears, concerns or questions, I decided to post a quick update on not only the philosophy of PeakStocks.com, but some direct commentary on the stocks in the portfolio. Read the rest of this entry »

SoundBite LogoWhat:

I am initiating the first (1) BUY recommendation of SoundBite Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDBT) at or around $6.00 per share.

Normally I would wait until I have finished my full research report before sending out a formal recommendation of a company that I have been following and intended to recommend, but the current share price and valuation and the company’s strong niche and leadership within their field, lead me to make this recommendation now.
