AuthenTec - Downgrade to HOLD: Insider Selling, Litigation, Product and Earnings Update
After tearing through AuthenTec’s (Nasdaq: AUTH) latest 10-k filing, doing some number crunching, and evaluating both the overall market and the semiconductor sector, and recent company developments at AuthenTec, I have changed my investment thesis to a HOLD for the time being.
If you own shares in AuthenTec, as do I, hang onto them.
If you don’t own shares, nibble at today’s prices, but be advised that a stagnant or declining share price could be in the cards for the next quarter or two.

AAR Corp. Reports Record Q3/2008 Sales, Earnings, Beats Estimates, Makes Acquisition
Well, here we go again: AAR Corp. reported earnings after the market closed on March 18th, 2008, and needless to say, my investment thesis is playing out just as expected with AAR reporting another quarter of record revenue and earnings, while beating analysts estimates on both the top and bottom line.
I’ll give a more detailed breakdown of AAR Corp.’s earnings, margins, etc., but I wanted to provide some quick numbers, and conference call and earnings highlights, as well as talk about their latest acquisition. Read the rest of this entry »
uWink Continues to Execute
Awhile back I had said that uWink has been quiet for awhile, and that I expected some announcements from the company shortly.
Well, uWink certainly delivered with a couple of new deals that further strengthen their restaurant side of the business, and more importantly, their software and content side of the business.
I’ll go over these two developments as well as update you on the progress of their new restaurant openings, and important notes regarding the company. Read the rest of this entry »

New Company Spotlight and Buy Alert: SoundBite Communications
You’re phone is ringing again…should you pick it up?
“I dunno…” you say to yourself, “could be telemarketers bugging me again.”
As the phone continues to ring, you decide to finally pick up the phone and answer it.
Sure enough, you’re worst fears come to fruition: it’s an automated voice message…but something about it catches your attention right away.
This isn’t like other AVM’s you’ve gotten in the past. Right off the bat you know that something is different.
The message specifically asked for you by name, and when you heard that the phone call was from Capital One about some potential suspicious activity on your card, your ears definitely perked up.
After a few seconds, the message asks you to verify your identity with a question only you would know the answer to before proceeding with the rest of the message.
After verifying who you were, details about the suspicious transaction are presented to you.
After thinking about it for a second, you don’t at first recognize the charge, and as an option, ask to speak to a customer service representative.
In less time than it takes you to say “customer service”, someone is on the line with your full details ready to explain more about the potential fraudulent activity on your account.
You are impressed by not only the speed of the transfer to an agent, but also with the depth and responsiveness of the entire call and how seamless it was.
This time at least, you are certainly glad you picked up the phone!
So who’s behind this nifty technology? How can we invest in the growing trend of automating customer contact, bill payment, debt collection and customer service?
I’ve discovered a small company that just came public operating in this niche with nice growth prospects in an emerging and expanding field: SoundBite Communications (Nasdaq: SDBT) Read the rest of this entry »

So to allay any fears, concerns or questions, I decided to post a quick update on not only the philosophy of PeakStocks.com, but some direct commentary on the stocks in the portfolio. Read the rest of this entry »

BUY ALERT: SoundBite Communications (Nasdaq: SDBT) BUY 1/4 Position 1/28/08 Around $6.00
What:
I am initiating the first (1) BUY recommendation of SoundBite Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDBT) at or around $6.00 per share.

AAR Corp. Company/Financial Update for Q2/2008 Reporting Period
AAR Corp’s (NYSE: AIR) recent earnings report and analyst conference call was nice and boring, just the way I like earnings reports to be.
Within the “boring” report, there were some interesting highlights and year over year improvements to the company’s margins, bottom and top line, and overall improvements in the business that further strengthen AAR’s position in the marketplace and my investment thesis for shares of AAR corp.
