Following Your Passion In All Things

Passion…it is what drives us, whether we realize it or not.

Sometimes, that passion sticks its head out just briefly. Perhaps you have a flirtation with a thought, a feeling, or rush, a desire perhaps, that you let linger in your mind for just a moment…

Your heart flutters, your mind wanders…

For just a second, you picture yourself doing something Fun and Productive at the same time. You see yourself completely relaxed, at peace, and with a big smile on your face because you know this is what you were meant to do, and it feels right with every part of your being.

Things change, people change, jobs change, etc., but for this moment, for now, you know, this is it.

You realize that you would love to do this new thing, would love to make it a career, would love to “live to work” rather than “work to live”…if you could do this one new thing, it would change everything. Your life would be a completely new place filled with passion, intrigue and something to look forward to every single day.

Then…the thought passes….doubt creeps in…we’re only human right? I mean who are we to think that we can follow our selfish desires when we have bills to pay, people counting on us, and a path to follow that has already been laid out for us.

Also, now that you think about it, what if you fail at that new thing? What if you follow it and it doesn’t work out? What if you make a fool out of yourself, never make any money off of it, and have to retreat with hat-in-hand, back to your “old” life?

“You know what”, you tell yourself, “Better stick to what I know, and what is safe….” immortal last words to say the least.

The Road Less Traveled

All these feelings, from the great and euphoric, to the downtrodden and frustrating, have passed through my mind in one form or another all throughout my life, as I’m sure they’ve passed through your mind as well.

The question then becomes: How do we deal with these thoughts, those feelings that tell us that there is something else out there for us, something we “should” be doing?

What do we do with the thoughts that tell us there is something out there (and we probably already know what it is) that will take our lives to a whole new level?

What do we do with the thoughts that tell us we can find something that will fill our days with joy, passion, fulfillment, and a sense of accomplishment and ability to give back to the world, fulfill our hearts, and yea, make some money too?

What’s the next step? How do we even take that leap of faith? How do we act on it without fear, or perhaps with fear, but in spite of it? How can you take something you love doing, and make it something that fulfills all the needs in your life, but most of all fulfills YOU?

How do you start your journey on the road less traveled?

The Secret Is…

Unfortunately, I can’t answer that for you…

The myriad of reasons why we are jolted into new paths in life, new directions of our thoughts and actions are too varied and distinct to allow me to pinpoint what is your motivating factor that would allow you to create this new direction in your life.

But what I CAN give to you is this website and the reason why I started it in the first place.

Yea, I know, it’s not the answer to life’s mysteries, but if I can just pass along how I came about starting this website, perhaps it can give you another point of reference, as I always needed, in saying to yourself: “if he can do that then I can too!”.

Quite simply, all those fears, all those starts and stops that I spoke of above I have had to deal with before I ever came to the realization that I LOVE the stock market, trading stocks, researching stocks, and digging deep into stocks finding unearthed hidden gems and then helping others by passing on this knowledge to them, to YOU!

Let’s Do This

I was hesitant at first. After all, who am I? I didn’t graduate with a degree in finance, business or any other stock or market related field. Who am I to think that I can out-pick and outperform seasoned veterans that have been doing this for years?

Not only that, but who was I to think that anyone in their right mind would listen to, let alone follow, my picks with their own money!

On top of that, as they say in the business: “don’t quit your day-job!” How was I ever going to make money on a website set up in this manner with no track-record, no following, etc.?

Ah, but then something clicked for me. I realized that not a lot of people LOVE stocks and research. I further realized that almost 80% of professionals on Wall Street hate their jobs! How can you ever be good at something you hate doing, and are not diligent about?

I then started thinking too about the average person…the person that wants to take care of their own financial future, but doesn’t care about research, is bored to death by it, or just doesn’t “get it”.

A picture started forming in my head of what I needed to do, and how I needed to do it, and thus PeakStocks.com was born!

So Now What?

I knew that in order to compete with other websites out there, and there are a ton of them, that pick stocks and offer advice and knowledge, I had to give more value to people in a way that represented my values, and differentiated me from every other stock website out there.

So I decided I needed to do the following:

  • Do what I was good at and loved doing: Through my years of doing this, I realized that I had a knack for finding small companies and/or beaten down stocks that everyone else was bailing out of, but that I knew were ripe for the picking. I needed to stick with what I was good at.
  • Give people this information in a timely manner: I would make the site update my picks in real-time with blog postings, email alerts, and even text messages (coming soon!) that would tell you when to buy a stock. Other sites might copy my picks and research, but they will NEVER know when I’m about to pull the trigger based on my own proprietary research!
  • The promise and commitment from me that everything I am telling you to buy, I also own: Why would you listen to me if I wasn’t confident enough in my own stock picks to also buy them! There aren’t many websites that do just that, at the exact same time they tell you to buy or sell!
  • Full disclosure of the potential Risks and how we will Mitigate Those Risks: I wanted to be as up-front and honest about everything that I do on this site. No hype, no promises, no bold headlines proclaiming my greatness.
  • Start Everything From Scratch: Obviously part of the reason I started this site was because I have been testing my theories and stock picks for years and know that I am good at what I do. BUT, that being said, you can’t live in the past. So I decided to start from scratch and not include any picks that I have made previously. Although this will hurt my performance numbers, I think that my audience will appreciate that everything is starting from scratch and we’re all in this together.

Long Story Long

At this point you are probably wondering what the heck this has to do with you and your passions right?

Well, quite simply, I wanted to illustrate that whatever passion you may hold and are thinking about acting on, there is always an angle, or way that you can take advantage of that passion, your expertise, and do it in a unique way even when it appears that “everyone else” is doing it already.

The only thing standing in your way is YOU!

Is it possible that PeakStocks.com will fail? Yep.

Is it possible that every pick I make goes down? Not likely, but sure.

Is it possible that I will lose money, time and perhaps embarrass myself? It’s possible.

Is it possible I’ll make mistakes along the way? You can probably count on it!

Is it possible that I don’t know everything there is to know about stock picking and the market? You bet!

Is it also possible however, that PeakStocks.com will become exactly what I envision it becoming?

That is, a site where I make timely and market-beating stock picks, present excellently written and informative blog postings and research reports, and ultimately become better known, grow the website traffic, and therefore begin to monetize PeakStocks.com as a passionate outlet and feel the fulfillment and pride that comes with it?

I would bet on the latter!

Because when you do something for the right reasons, and go all out, success is right around the corner, regardless of the pitfalls and possible stumbling blocks that might impede your path along the way.

If you keep your head down, do whatever it takes to make your passion a success and believe in your heart and soul that you are doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reasons, you will CREATE your own success, and that is exactly what I intend to do!

Thanks for taking that journey with me!

All the best,

Chris Fernandez

you’ve got a great idea. i’m looking forward to your ideas.

take a look @ wpcs, great little micro cap and they always make their numbers.

I wish I had found this site sooner. I’ve watched LOOP lose over half of my investment since July. I’ll be watching your site, very interesting.

  3. Chris Fernandez Says:

    Thanks Kelly,

But I can’t be smug about that call. I could have been just as wrong, and still might be, about LOOP, and they might have announced something the very next day that would lead to improved business prospects, etc.

Anything short term I can’t take credit for, in this case, I spotted a trend, and decided against buying shares in LOOP.

We’ll see how that trend plays out over the next few quarters.

    Thanks for the feedback!
    Chris
