AAR Corp. Company Update (11-29-07)

By Chris Fernandez | November 29th, 2007 | (1) comment »

There’s a saying for those who plan on buying stocks long term: Buy and Homework, instead of Buy and Hold.

To that end, there have been some recent developments to my recent AAR Corp. (NYSE: AIR) research report and buy recommendation post.

In this post, I talk about these recent developments for AAR Corp., and followed up with some questions to John Bowman the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and Investor Relations for AAR Corp. Read the rest of this entry »

Buy This Book: One Up On Wall Street

By Chris Fernandez | November 27th, 2007 | (2) comments »

Don’t think you have an advantage over Wall Street as an individual investor? Think again.

I just finished reading an amazing book that I’ve heard about for quite some time, but that I finally sat down and read.

It was such an amazing book, and so revelatory, that I had to pass it along to all my readers on PeakStocks.com. Read the rest of this entry »

BUY ALERT and New Company Spotlight: uWink Inc. - Food, Drinks and Fun

By Chris Fernandez | November 23rd, 2007 | (6) comments »

uWink logoA winning restaurant concept, proven and motivated ownership and management, and a unique niche make me feel confident that uWink can, not only beat the returns of the overall market, but CRUSH the returns of the overall market over a 2-5 year period.

This is the type of stock and opportunity that you look for and hear about at cocktail parties when someone says they bought Microsoft or Apple at $1 per share.

Of course, if things don’t pan out and management fails, this could also be the stock that you hear about at cocktail parties where people moan about their losses on the next great penny stock. Read the rest of this entry »

AAR Corp. Conference Call Highlights for Q1/’08 Reporting Period

By Chris Fernandez | November 18th, 2007 | (0) comments »

The best way to get your hands dirty and really learn what’s going on at a company is to listen in on their quarterly conference calls and get a feel for management’s take on the business and its prospects.

That’s exactly what I did with AAR Corp.’s latest earnings release on September 19th.

Management talked about the decline in margins, some integration problems they are having with a recent acquisition, the reasons for these problems, how they are going to fix these problems, and their expectations for the coming months and years. Read the rest of this entry »

New Company Spotlight: AAR Corp. - Innovation for the Aviation/Aerospace Industry

By Chris Fernandez | November 14th, 2007 | (0) comments »

AAR LogoIt’s time to add this stock to your portfolio! I’m pounding the table for AAR Corp. (NYSE: AIR).

I believe that as long as AAR Corp. keeps doing what they are doing, namely: improving margins, growing sales and running a tight ship in terms of shareholder dilution and acquisitions, we will see returns from here on out from 15-30% per year, with less risk than some of the other picks in my portfolio.

For those who want a more detailed research report, one will be available on PeakStocks.com under the “Research Reports” link. What follows is a summary of that research report. Read the rest of this entry »

Be Careful Out There: What To Do With Large Bid/Ask Spreads

By Chris Fernandez | November 10th, 2007 | (2) comments »

Before PeakStocks.com really gets rolling and I start making recommendations of small and micro-cap stocks that are thinly traded, I thought it would be prudent to create a post outlining some criteria for Bid/Ask spreads and what to look for to protect yourself from getting screwed by the market makers. New Company Spotlight: AuthenTec - The Power of Touch

By Chris Fernandez | November 5th, 2007 | (3) comments »

AuthenTec LogoLook at your finger. Yea, that’s right, take a look at all those grooves and patterns on it.

No one on earth has that same pattern. What’s more, beneath the outside layer of skin, to where the “live” layer is, lies a unique pattern that identifies you regardless of whether you actually have any visible fingerprints or not!

This is probably one area of technology that you rarely, if ever, think about, but fingerprint security technology is getting better and better with more uses being found for this growing industry in everything from PC’s and home security systems, to cell phones and checkout stands.

I’ve found an exciting and fast-growing company that was on my watch list that is the leader in this industry called AuthenTec (Nasdaq: AUTH).

(Please note that AuthenTec is NOT yet a formal buy recommendation, but stay tuned.) Read the rest of this entry »

Is There Anything AAR Corp. Doesn’t Do?

By Chris Fernandez | November 1st, 2007 | (3) comments »

I just received an email press release update tonight from PeakStocks.com portfolio pick AAR Corp. (NYSE: AIR), in which the company details how its equipment has helped in the California wild fires that caused wide-spread destruction the last few weeks.
